Gutters FAQs

Gutter FAQs

Why are gutters so important?

Water will always follow the path of least resistance and quality gutters will save you thousands of dollars in home repairs by channeling water into non-destructive paths.  They prevent backsplash which damages or soils siding, as well as eliminating washouts, erosion and roof runoff. Additionally, properly installed gutters enhance the curb appeal of your home.

What are my options?

Gutters and downspouts come in many colors. We also have a variety of styles and materials to choose from depending on your style of home and your preferences. Most importantly we’ll divert that water away from your home and drained correctly. If you have a desire to satisfy your decorative flair, there are plenty of options to satisfy your tastes.

Why are seamless gutters better?

Seamless gutters tend to be very reasonably priced because of the efficiency of the installation. It is actually more reasonable to have them professionally installed than to try to do it yourself because it is not cost effective for a company to drive to your location, measure and cut the gutters and simply leave them for the do-it-yourselfer.

How do I know that it is time to replace my gutters?

Mold, peeling paint or streaks on your home’s exterior may be a sign that your gutters are leaking and may need to be replaced or repaired. Weight from clogs and debris can cause a gutter to pull away from a house or sag and this can cause water to leak behind the gutter, causing damage. If gutters are not sloped properly they may not channel water into the downspouts. You don’t want the Grand Canyon created outside of your home.

Why are my gutters overflowing?

The primary reason that gutters overflow is because the gutter is clogged or sloped incorrectly. It may not look it from the ground, but in the vast majority of cases, a properly designed gutter system only overflows because of blockage or sloping alignment. If cleaning your gutter is not something you want to bother with, we recommend a gutter protection system as a practical alternative that will greatly minimize maintenance requirements.

How long does it take to install gutters on a home?

Most gutter installations are done in one day.

What is the difference between seamless and sectional gutter systems?

Sectional types are sold in pieces that measure from 8′ to 15′ feet long. They are made out of vinyl, painted aluminum or even steel. The gutter sections are joined together by various types of connectors. All sectional systems have end caps, corner pieces and drop outlets for connecting to downspouts. The downside of sectional gutter systems is that there is a potential for leaks at the seams that is aggravated by weather over time. Seamless gutters are the most popular form of guttering for a reason. They eliminate seams which can leak and tend to discolor. There are numerous colors available and the baked on enamel finish does not peel and never needs painting. Seamless gutters protect the beauty of your home and help minimize damage to your landscaping. We manufacturing them right on the job site provides a custom fit with our own Seamless Gutter Machine.
